👍👶Five encouraging pro-life stories for the week

October 6, 2026

There is plenty of discouraging news in the world, but there are also reasons for hope. Here are five encouraging pro-life stories from the past week that are worth knowing about and sharing.

1. Former Planned Parenthood building becomes a place of help for women and families

In Gainesville, Florida, SIRA, a faith-based pregnancy center, purchased a former Planned Parenthood property for about $345,000. The organization plans to renovate the building and expand its services to pregnant women, mothers and families.

The former Planned Parenthood location is now being given a new purpose: offering practical support and resources to women and families in need.

2. Mother chooses life after taking the abortion pill

Right to Life of Central California recently shared the story of “Felicia,” a woman who took the abortion pill while feeling overwhelmed and alone.

After receiving support from LIFEHOUSE, Felicia decided to continue her pregnancy. She is now preparing for the birth of her daughter, and the pregnancy center is helping her prepare for motherhood, including a baby shower.

Felicia is also considering returning to school and possibly becoming an ultrasound technician.

One decision changed the direction of an entire life—and two lives were given another chance.

3. Safe Haven Baby Boxes continue giving mothers and newborns a safe alternative

A new Safe Haven Baby Box was unveiled in Campbell County, Kentucky, on September 28. Local Catholics helped raise money for the new box as well as two additional boxes planned for the county.

Kentucky now has 71 Safe Haven Baby Boxes. Since 2017, 83 infants have reportedly been safely surrendered through Kentucky's boxes.

And in Racine, Wisconsin, a newborn was safely surrendered through a Safe Haven Baby Box just days ago. It was the second baby surrendered through that particular box since it opened in December.

These programs provide a life-saving option for mothers who believe they cannot care for a newborn. Instead of an abandoned baby being left somewhere unsafe, the child can be surrendered safely and immediately receive medical care and protection.

4. Hundreds gather for Ohio March for Life despite the rain

Hundreds of people gathered in Columbus on October 2 for the fifth annual Ohio March for Life, despite rainy and cloudy weather.

The day began with a Mass for Life at St. Joseph Cathedral, followed by a rally at the Ohio Statehouse and a march through downtown Columbus. Students, families, clergy, religious sisters and pro-life organizations participated.

One particularly moving testimony came from U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, who told the crowd that his birth mother chose adoption rather than abortion after becoming pregnant following the death of her husband in Vietnam.

His story is a reminder that every person has a story that begins before birth—and that the circumstances surrounding a pregnancy do not determine the worth of the child.

5. October begins with a renewed call to defend human life

October is Respect Life Month, and Catholic communities across the country are beginning the month with prayer, public witness and practical assistance for mothers and families.

This year's national theme is “Mary, Mother of Life.” Catholic leaders are encouraging people to pray for mothers and their unborn children while also supporting women who face difficult pregnancies.

In Florida, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach held a Respect Life Mass followed by a public prayer chain on October 5. The event brought together people committed to protecting human life while also providing concrete assistance to women and families.

A reason for hope

These stories may not receive the same attention as political battles or courtroom decisions, but they represent something important.

A mother choosing life.

A baby being safely surrendered instead of abandoned.

A former abortion facility becoming a place of practical help.

Hundreds of people standing publicly for the unborn.

And churches beginning Respect Life Month with prayer and action.

The pro-life movement is ultimately about people—not statistics, political victories or headlines. Every child saved represents an entire human life with a future that otherwise might never have been seen.

As the Lord says in Jeremiah 1:5:

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.”

There is still much work to do. But there is also much reason for hope.

May God continue to strengthen those who stand for mothers and their unborn children, and may He give courage and compassion to everyone working to protect human life.

All glory to God.If you want, I can also make this more like a polished Christian news/blog article—with a stronger opening, a headline/subheadline, and source links embedded naturally throughout.
