Allegedly agreed
On October 11, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine was effective immediately, claiming both sides had agreed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the announcement was "news to me," though he indicated Kyiv would respect it if Moscow did the same.
The Kremlin did not officially confirm the deal, and Russian forces continued striking Ukrainian power and energy infrastructure almost immediately.
After pausing attacks on Russian energy sites for a brief period, Zelenskyy declared the truce dead, stating, The block on attacking refineries is out. We're done, following continuous Russian bombardments on Ukrainian energy facilities.
Ukrainian long-range drone operations targeted Russian oil and energy infrastructure in regions such as Belgorod (including Valuyki) and Ryazan, amid heightened tensions over U.S. efforts to broker a Russian diesel export arrangement and lower domestic fuel prices.
